March: A Few Of My Favorite Things

March is here and spring is just around the corner. It’s raining here in San Diego which has happened about four times in the last year, so taking the day to focus on myself, have  a date with the couch and Netflix, and finally get March’s Favorite Things up for you all.

It’s been quite busy over here at the Gaffney household, so forgive me for the late post! Jaxon is playing more than ever and on the verge of talking, Conway is now one month old and all he wants to do is eat, sleep and poop, and Tyler is off in Florida chasing his dreams.

Spring is a time to begin transitions, try new things and make new goals as we enter a new part of the year. Here are a few of my favorite things for March, check them out and comment below if you’ve tried these or have put them on your list of to-do’s!

  1. Rodan + Fields LashBoost

Its been 2 months since I first started using LashBoost and I have to say.. IT WORKS! I’ll be doing a 12 Weeks update post in the upcoming weeks but I will say that my lashes have naturally gotten longer, fuller and curlier! The only downfall has been that sometimes my eyes are a little itchy the following morning, but beauty is pain, right? If you are debating between ruining your eyelashes and adding another monthly expense of false eyelashes or LashBoost, go with LashBoost. It is definitely worth the purchase and much easier to maintain! *If you are interested in trying this out, shoot me an email or message on IG @kristenlouelle & I can get  you set up!

2.  Oribé Dry Texturixing Spray

Oribé Dry Texturizing Spray is my favorite hair product of all time. It’s a little on the pricey side but lasts forever. It smells delicious and acts as a lightweight hairspray and texture spray. This is my go to for those beachy, sexy texturized waves. Did I mention it smells amazing? You feel like you’ve just walked out of a salon with every use.

3.  Traditional Medicinal Every Day Detox Tea

Maybe I’m biased because I’ve been drinking this tea for years now, but I truly believe this is the best detox tea out there. Every Day Detox Tea is plant based and works in harmony with your body’s natural detoxification process, so it’s not aggressive and won’t make you poop your brains out like most detox teas on the market. This blend helps to stimulate your liver’s natural process of detoxification, giving your liver the love it deserves. I get the lemon version and add a little honey to my cup of tea. I have these every morning, but on good days I’ll have 3 cups.  Within 2 weeks you’ll notice a flatter stomach, as well as brighter, glowy, clear skin!

4.  Bogle Phantom Wine

Ty picked this out at Costco based on it’s 92 Wine Rating, and I have to say, he picked out a great wine. Bogle is not only affordable but I find it’s one of the best bang for your buck purchases. Wild berries, black pepper are framed by the influence of oak aging with baking spices and a hint of toasty vanilla. This full bodied wine is a perfect blend of 42% Petite Sirah, 34% Zinfandel, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon & 10% Merlot.  I could tell right away by the deep purple color that I was going to be a fan. Let’s just say, we bought 4 more bottles.

5. “Sharp Objects” by Gillian Flynn

Before there was “Gone Girl” there was “Sharp Objects.” Gillian Flynn’s debut novel absolutely CAPTIVATED me. I was sucked into this book like no other book before. I finished it in just a couple of days, only because I had to stop myself at night reminding myself that sleep held some level of importance. A thrilling page turner, you will want to know what is next with every chapter. You think you have it figured out, and then twists and turns continue to intrigue you. Oh, and I just found out HBO is turning this into an upcoming miniseries debuting this year starring my girl, Amy Adams. I am PUMPED!

6. Cole Haan Booties *SALE*

I always thought Cole Haan’s were for men, but I was mistaken when Ty and I walked into the Cole Haan Outlet store. They have so many cute, quality shoes for women! I am obsessed with my new go to boots. I needed boots that weren’t 6 inch platforms like most of my heels and boots, but I also didn’t want boots that were too low and ‘basic bitch’ status (sorry, but I gotta have a little swag). I needed something casual, but I could also dress up, a healthy medium. And I found these versatile booties on SALE at that!

7. This Is Us

Bruh… I’ve heard about this show and how “amaaaaazing” it is for over a year now. I protested watching it because I find most basic cable network shows are cheesy and don’t truly represent issues, relationship, etc due to the lack of intimacy and cursing mostly, but wow, this show truly is amazing. I probably picked a bad time to start watching this- post child birth with raging hormones and a fiancé who just left to live across the country, but this show has me crying literally every episode!

“This Is Us” chronicles the Pearson family across the decades: from Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) as young parents in the 1980s to their 37-year-old kids Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) searching for love and fulfillment in the present day. The show tackles issues many of us deal with in our personal and family relationships. At the end of every episode I find myself wiping my tears and hugging my kids extra tight, feeling grateful for my family. It’s streaming commercial free on Hulu!

8. Urban Outfitters Graphic Vintage Tees

I’m a mom. I’m a workout freak. That’s about it. If I could live in Tyler’s sweats and big t-shirts, or workout clothes, I totally would. But unfortunately that’s not socially acceptable. So my go to casual wear is generally Lulu align pants and these Urban Outfitters vintage tees. They run about $40 each but they are extremely comfortable and give you that effortless, stylish look. Throw on some sunnies and a cute hat and you now are fashionable. My favorite is their Aerosmith tee!

9. QUAY Sunglasses

I’m a sucker for sunglasses. However, over the years I find that spending over $100 on sunglasses just isn’t for me. They either end up going out of style, I lose them, or I just never wear them. But then again, I won’t go as low as to buy glasses from a gas station that look plastic. I had discovered QUAY Australia initially on Instagram. I then found the most rocker chic pair at Nordstrom’s.. for only $50! It was a happy medium. They were stylish, but didn’t break the bank. And I wear them all the time, of course!

10. For The Moms: Dock-A-Tot Deluxe

I’ll be doing a full review on this product because I am that obsessed with it, but let me just say it is worth every penny. Again, I found this product on Instagram and they had reached out to me about a partnership. I jumped at the opportunity as I had heard incredible reviews. Long story short I put the Dock-A-Tot to use immediately when Conway came home. He has been sleeping in his crib since we brought him home at 3 days old and sleeps perfectly through every nap in his crib. The Dock-A-Tot gives him womb familiarity, and on top of that, as a constantly traveling family, I can bring the Dock-A-Tot where ever we go, place it in his Pack & Play, and it won’t ruin his routine as he will feel the same comfort with every nap and bedtime. Mommy must have!!

  1. Hi Kristen!

First off, thank you for taking the time out of your crazy schedule to blog. There are so many blogs that drop off in interest for me but I truly love yours. I am listing all of these suggestions on a “Wishlist” that I keep on my phone for when I do escape for some “me” shopping. I am very intrigued by the Lash Booster as I have been using Factor Five…same concept and price so I will be watching your progress to see if I should make the jump. Was wondering if you might recommend a tinted moisturizer with SPF to wear to gym or when working out outside. I do not like to wear makeup when exercising cuz it tends to lead to breakouts. I figure there must be a decent tinted moisturizer with a little added sunscreen out there somewhere! Your thoughts??? Hope you are taking care of you! Now out to buy that tea… 🙂 Happy Easter!

    1. Hi Nancy! I don’t wear make up most days, however every morning I splash my face with some water, then I put on Image Skincare Daily Prevention + SPF 50 Moisturizer! It is full coverage and protection and smells yummy, too 🙂
